A device programmer, also called "chip programmer" or "circuit programmer", is a tool for transferring data into programmable integrated circuits, such as ROMs, EPROMs, EEPROMs, Flash Memory, GALs, PALs, PLDs, CPLDs, FPGAs, and microcontrollers. This forum is for discussions about features and issues of universal device programmers, such as the GALEP-5 and GALEP-5D programmers from Conitec.

Altera CPLD programming using GALEP-4
      #544 - 06/16/08 06:05 PM

I have tried to use GALEP-4 for programming the Altera EPM3128ATC144 CPLD. Previously, I successfully programmed it with Altera Byteblaster, using MaxPlus II software.
I have connected GALEP-4 to my device according instructions from Help and load SVF-file. After pressing "Program" button, I can see the message:
Line > 256 chars - line 52 and process is cancelled.
Actually, there are a lot of very long strings in SVF-file.
I tried to split them with the text editor, but after such a modifications GALEP software is hanging.
Is it possible to program CPLD with GALEP, using SVF-file, generated by the MaxPlus software ?

This looks as if the maximum line buffer length is exceeded.

Do you already have the latest GALEP4 software? If yes, it's a case for the support - please send the SVF file with a brief description to galep (at) conitec.com. They'll look into the problem and it will be fixed for the next software update.
