A device programmer, also called "chip programmer" or "circuit programmer", is a tool for transferring data into programmable integrated circuits, such as ROMs, EPROMs, EEPROMs, Flash Memory, GALs, PALs, PLDs, CPLDs, FPGAs, and microcontrollers. This forum is for discussions about features and issues of universal device programmers, such as the GALEP-5 and GALEP-5D programmers from Conitec.

      #568 - 08/12/08 07:46 PM

Hi everybody,

I need a hint. I try to copy a programmed AT89C2051 with my galep4 but if I read out the device, I only get FF´s or 00´s

But I´m sure the device is programmed. What is my mistake?

Thank you very much!

Probably the lock bits are set? The device can't be read with a programmer in that case.

AFAIK the lock bits can only be set, but not read. They are reset when you erase the device, but naturally the program is then gone.
