in my game ,i use newton system ,the terrain is a mdl that i design in 3dmax.
but the car fall into the terrain .
in newton system ,is the terrain can be a mdl ??
and how to lead the car didn't fall into the terrain ??

I´m hardlly trying to discover a solution for this, but I still dont have one. Seem that the problem is that Newton uses the "old collision system" what I still dont know also exactly what is.

I tryed to put an action with "my.polygon=on" on models, and also tryed to use them as Newton terrains, but didnt worked.

Someone ? This is a urgent need...

hi,

yeah right, newton use the old collision detection system.

Some time ago one of us said that he will create a new newton plugin that works with the new coll-system.
But he wants to wait until A6.4 came out.

Well, if I remember right so the name of the lightbringer was : "Ventilator".


@ventilator:
Do you work already on the new plugin?
When yes could you give any timeframe for an release ?

It would be fantastic to the community have this new plugin released sometime..

I think that is a thread at newton´s forum telling that someone is working also in a 3DGS new pluguin that will be delivered when the next A6 update come... or something so.

I will try to find the post again and will post it here.

Ventilator has mentioned continued support for 3DGS + Newton on this forum a while back also.
The general attitude toward 3DGS on the Newton forum seems pretty negative IMO so who knows what will happen..

I dont think so. I readed there a lot of things that someone there is working and a new release will happen when the new 3DGS update come alive. Anyway I also readed that someone found a way of implement it into actual 3DGS version.

In fact, the general attitude in theyr forum towards 3DGS are pretty negative, anyway, to some kind of questions the person would receive a negative reaction here also.

Some things Newbies ( like me ) Must understand is that is a advanced forum, and sometimes people does very very stupid questions. If you go there and read some posts, including one of the latests , made by a very known member of this forum, will be fairy simple understand why some get hungry...

Of course that kind of post make us 3DGS users look all like dumbs...

I think maybe some movement could be organized between Newton+3DGS Users to achieve some kind of cooperative work, maybe we can get better results, and with better results that will be more reasons to continue Newton support for 3DGS ( anyway I think this is happening ).

In my case, only reading posts in Newton Forums without post stupid questions, I solved/cleared the major part of my problems.

Also is necessary be clear that the sometimes negative reaction of Newton Forum members come from users, I always see the moderators and developers being very happy in see the 3DGS comunity using newton, I think this is also good for theyr product. Also, the "hungry ones" are always answering in a negative way in that forum to any type of newbie, not only 3DGS ones... And this is some people only.

I´m also trying some way to make the tyres make part of the collision in the Newton Vehicle, using some tricks, and as soon as I get something I will share with the comunity.

Hope I´m not talking "bullshit"
