I've created a basic MMORPG test, download here dont worry it's less that 1mb

I'll leave the server open for a few hours so you can join it...


How to join:
Right click on the exe file and create a shortcut, right click on the shortcut
& got to properties then add " -cl -ip 217.43.32.197" to the end of the target box (without the quotes) click ok then run the shortcut, this will let you join as a client...
(You can also give your self a name by putting " -pl" after " 97" followed by the name you want i.e "-cl -ip 217.43.32.197 -pl Player1")


How to chat:
Press enter and then type a message press enter again to send it, note: the chat systems still is a bit buggy i think, but unless you try to send blank messages everything should be fine...

Things to notice: the chat system works as follows: Depending on the distance to the other players depends on if they can see the messages you send, just like in a MMORPG... Please test it and tell me what you think, i would love to hear any feed back, Thank you..

Also: if it lags its just because my servers not that great, sorry and thank you very much for testing.

P.S I'll be named RyuShinji thank you! ^_^

192.168.0.7 this is an internal(local) ip it refers to my sisters pc in my home network (and my ip is : 88.252.212.244 nothing close to 192.168.0.3(my local))


check servers ip at www.whatsmyip.org , client cant find servers.

edit: started a server myself, its ok but game is currently no more than a normal multiplayer game, i dont know if you implemented the far-players-cant-hear-what-i-say thingy. (edit: it works, setting too far players invisible will be cool too)

some 5 min improvements like, putting playername on player model(see: vec_to_screen), a random player skine at start etc. will make it more <a feel that i cant describe>

still no servers, maybe you need to open some ports? or a firewall?

Errr How do I do that ports i mean? ^_^
(I did look in the manual before asking but i'm still not sure)

but im not sure which port is used by the server, or directplay, someone else may help?

you both need to allow connections on win, and open your ports on your router.

Darn! I didnt expect this, Thanks for the links, I'm now gonna try that port thingy, once i've got it working on my computer atleast, i'll post a message & i'll have a go at that invisible distance thing ^_^... Thanks again!
