Please note that since all of Ryangregory's recent contributions are of copyrighted material and it is very unlikely that he has permission from the various coyright holders to use them, that their creation and distribution is Illegal. As well, anyone using these models would be breaking copyright law. Please note that this has nothing to do with whether he made them or not... it's the simple fact that everything he/she presented is under copyright and thus he/she has no right to use, distribute, or modify in any form.

Sorry for being a broken record on this issue but as current game developers, the community needs to be more aware and respectful of other people's copyright.

It's not only under copy write.
Just the notion of distrubting those models could also be considered Trademark Infringment, and Defemation. Depending on his location, or the origin of data sent, he could also be breaking a number of international laws and treaties. Fastlane is right to warn you guyz.

...Also, most of his contributions seems to be models ripped straight out of the games.

That can be made using reverse engineering programs, which utilization in copyrighted software, as far as i know, is illegal too =/

Copyright violations are very common on the board. There are TONS of people who have done similar things on the board and not received similar treatment (just search for "link" or "stargate" to see what I mean). Mostly they are due to ignorance about the law and not outright attempts at infringement. I would recommend you save the warnings for the un-repetent, from those that don't back down, and not for people like Ryan who are repentent and now know better. Otherwise you might be very busy indeed!

He apologized, he won't do it again, and that is a lot more than we usually get from people. Let's build on that instead of scaring him away from game development forever!

Just to mention...I think those models arent ripped off , because Lara didnt look so agressive in the games If those models are realy his , thats a great portfolio!

Yeah , definately great models , and I second what fastlane said , in fact , there's tons of copyrighted models in the Acknex Unlimited website , and thats the official gamestudio recource website , so I dont see how this could be a big deal at all. I've also seen tons of clone models being shown here as well as fan made games which pretty much all copyright infringe and never seen any of them get banned , so whats the problem here ?

Well I can see where your coming from, but then again, just because there's tons of coke coming into the usa, doesnt make it right. I'd have to agree with fastlane though, because I'm sure that most people who have done what he did, just dont realize that it's gainst the law.
