Chrome effect

This month we will get to play with a highly customizable chrome effect which runs fast on any video card that has at least VS and PS 2.0 support.

The effect looks much better in motion, so don't forget to test my demo. Open chrometest.wmp, run main.wdl and then press the Z, X and C keys on the keyboard until you are happy with the result. Write down the numerical values and then use them in the chrome_final action - the action that will be used for your models in the game.

The action that is attached to the spinning model from my demo was created just for testing; you shouldn't apply "action chrome" to your models, but "action chrome_final", using the red, green, blue, power and scale values that work best for you.

Here's how you can use this effect in your projects:

1) Copy chrome.wdl, chrome.fx and chrome_lookup.tga inside your game folder;

2) Include chrome.wdl in your main script;

3) Place one or several models in your level and attach it / them the action named chrome_final. The models with a higher polygon count will look better.

That's all! Don't forget to thank A.Russell and Ello for their exquisite contribution.
