The community has decided: the most interesting project idea is "Untitled Platformer" by Superku, so that's what we have decided to create. We've got a team of 11 active people: 6 artists, 3 programmers, 1 sound / music guy and myself. I was surprised to see so many artists getting involved, and let me tell you that their work is looking very good - see for yourself!

As you can see, we've tested lots of different styles here and since we had to choose only one, we have decided to go for a semi-realistic 3D environment. It looks like the action is going to take place inside a castle, but that isn't set in stone for now. We have also decided that we will have two characters that can be controlled by the player, a bigger sister and a smaller brother, each one of them having unique abilities. The two brothers will work as a team, helping each other solve the puzzles, fight the enemies, and so on.

 

Meanwhile, the programmers were busy as well. RedPhoenix has created a complex main menu system - check it out!

Superku, the man with the plan, has worked hard at player's code, the enemy code, props, etc. Here's a video that shows only a few of the game's features:

At this point, the artists' team is working at the level gameplay sketches, pictures that describe what are the goals of each level and how they can be achieved by our big sister / small brother team. I'll keep you posted, but here are a few samples; if you've got good ideas please share them with us at the forum - we could use your help on this. I'll see you all next month!
